Bulldozers Finally Move In

A villa left isolated in the middle of a man-made canyon for nearly four years in China has finally been demolished.

Developers dug a 30ft deep pit around the building to try to force the owner to sell, reports China News Network.

But the owner insisted he would not sell unless he was given a shop of the same size in the new Broadway Square which will include a shopping mall, apartments and a train station.

The Chongqing Jiulongpo district court supported the developers’ plea and ruled that the owner must move out within three days.

The owner, Yang Wu, replied by moving back into the long-deserted house to protest the unfair ruling and vowed to “live in the house until it collapses”.

But, after three hours of negotiations, the couple finally agreed to a compromise of a shop in another mall downtown, plus £65,000 in cash.

The villa was finally bulldozed on the night that the agreement was signed.
